Hho

Has anyone done any reading on the use of HHO gas in engines to increase fuel economy. The gas is made by electrolysis of some water using power from the battery and feeding the gas in the intake of a vehicle. People are using O2 sensor extensions to get the O2's out of the exhaust stream to lean out the fuel added as well as other gizmo's to trick the ECU using IAT, MAP and other things.

I know leaning out the AF ratio causes exhaust temps to rise, but how are these guys getting away with it without melting down the motor? When the HHO burns it creates water, which I would imagine turns to steam in the heat of the combustion chamber absorbing some of this heat from running lean, however the current to their HHO cells remains constant, meaning the cell is putting off a constant supply of HHO gas to a variable airflow engine.

Any ideas? Seems real interesting if it works.

There is an episode of MythBusters you need to watch.

Far as burning and becoming water, water is already a big part of exhaust anyway.

Hydrogen burns VERY hot actually, that is the reason it is the fuel that the space shuttle uses.

Hydrogen production from electrolosis of water is such a poor method that current industrially available hydrogen is made by splitting methane rather than water. Wonder how many of the folks pushing hydrogen cars realize this fact.
