Help....valve springs, retainer lock question!

Lets say that while doing a valve spring change that a retainer lock dropped down the head bolt opening where the oil goes back down....where would it end up? I don't see it near the lifters and I went down the hole with a magnetic pick up fishing around but haven't found it yet, am I fu#$ed?  I am starting to feel :barf:

Let's say you drained the oil and looked thru it for the lock. You could be lucky. If it's your LS1 with aluminum pan, fish back thru the oil drain hole if you can with a small magnet pushed into a piece of vinyl tubing. That might help.

Good luck!

I have taken a small maglight, AAA type and looked into the head, I can't see it anywhere. I was considering drinaing the oil to see if it went all the way down....man this sucks. why didn't the damn install docs say to plug these holes:(

Any one know what the oil galley looks like in an LS1 block? What is the path for the oil to get out of the oil galley back down to the pan? does it go through holes or is it wide open?
