camshaft experts, timing experts

When you charge to another cam would it allow you to run more timing?

I changed from stock 207/213 .415/.430 114,5 lobe to a 211/225 .483/.520 113 lobe camshaft. Will it allow me to run more timing without predetonation?

Any comment on the cam?

No.Cam timing wonīt affect ign total timing per se.
Ign timing is in major controlled by flame front speed and VE.
Basically i guess you could say that "our" engines ainīt exactly top of the crop in that respect as combustion chamber knowledge has taken leaps forward in the latter 20yrs or so rendering total ign timing around the 30 deg mark these days.
The "old" SBC netting around 36-38 for full power leaves something to be desired.

What cam timing WILL more often then not affect is low load ign timing, but thatīs another story.
