Lightbulb Whats the best exhaust system out there.?

Im a new 86 Iroc owner. I was wondering what the best exhaust system is out there. I want a very deep aggresive sounding exhaust system. Im thinking flowmaster, borla, or SLP loudmouth???

never heard a LM on a third gen, but on a 4th gen they tend to sound too raspy and harsh for most people. you could look into the Magnaflow. i have it on my 96 and love the sound. very nice mellow, yet noticable tone at idle, and good roar at WOT. and it's cheaper than most systems and comes with a nice polished muffler and polished tips.

either that or the borla ($$)...that way you can tune how loud you want...

Opinions on Catback exhaust systems:
1) Flowmaster-Cheap, med loud and will rust.
2) Borla-Very expensive & loud and will not rust.
3) SLP- Expensive & loud and will not rust. Also will not fit a 3rd Gen car.

i would go with a 3 inch flowmaster american thunder catback system, they are not to hard on the walet, and they sound real good on the 3rd gens. If you go to their web site you can hear what it sounds like www.flowmastermufflers.com

Just for the record you can make almost any 4th gen back half work with minor mods to the hangers. I have lots of buddies with 4th gen LS-1 exhaust and LT1 exhaust. They all look and sound great and are cheap too. Everyone upgrades to aftermarket, but actually the stock GM LS-1 muffler and tailpipes flow more than enough for our engines and like I said, sound great.

i recently had the bullet muffler from dynomax installed on my '83 Z28. i really like its sound characteristics... nice mellow rumble at idle with deep sound during acceleration. it's a nice piece at a very affortable price... and it's worth every penny. i would recommend this product to anyone looking for an inexpensive way to gain some extra ponies while looking to add some respectable sound.

Hey IROC5.7TPI, I am thinking about getting a 4th gen magnaflow catback for my 83z. Would it be hard to get it to fit right on my 83? What kind of minor mods to the hangers are we talkin about? Thanks.

On my 87 GTA I have the SLP loudmouth that was on my 93 formula and yeah it's loud but full throttle it sounds so good and those dual tips look awesome on it. I know most people dont run the loudmouth on a thirdgen but I love it. Also gotta go with the borla. You can't ever go wrong with that!
