L98 in a G-Body carbed
I doing a very budget L98 swap into a 1985 Monte Carlo SS. Staying carbed but Im hoping to do some budget stuff to make it worth the swap. So far I want to go with a RPM intake (under $100 used), a cam, not sure which one but leaning toward Speed Pro .436 lift and a .224 duration at .050 degrees Lobe centerline is less that 110 cam ($25 local) and some used 906 vortech heads (drilled for traditional 12 bolt intake manifold $230) and a free Holley 750 carb. How does this combo sound?

Or
Swap the L-98 and TPI system right on over to your Monte . . .
Your build is removing everything that makes an L98 an L98, now it just be a 350 with a camshaft n heads but hey you spent way more money to have less . . .
Have a nice day

How cheap ? i used to buy them L98's $150 not running and $300 running, Most i ever spent was $450 and it came with a rust free car that had a bad transmission . . .
These third gens ain't worth much, I bought whole car's for $2,500-$3,500 in like new condition with 70-90K miles . . . anything over 100K miles was $1,200-$1,500 all day long . . .
The 350's were cheap the 305's were about free and the V6's you normally got paid to take way . . .
I have owned 2 GTA's and 1 Z-28, prolly crushed 100's of them and only really stripped a handful of 3rd Gen's they had very little value so most weren't worth while . . .

good buy
When working with any 1980's "performance" car the trick is not to invest a lot of money cause they ain't much, sure you can find add's asking crazy high prices, they either don't sell and get kept or they take way way less then asked . . . but there is also a sucker born every min so some may sell high . . .
for an 82'-92' GM F-body wouldn't pay over $4,500 PERIOD ! same with the Monte SS's they are ment for Cheap fun . . .
