Using Diffrent size tires?

Time to buy tires again and wanted to know if I can run diffrent size tires on the front from the rear. I'm not sure how wide of a tire I can fit on stock 16" rims on the rear, and what size and type I should use on the front. Anybody had any better performance running diffrent size tires?

Last year i ran 245/50R16 in the front and 265/50R16 rear.
the rears rubbed durring very agressive driving.this year i may go 255 all around

i wouldn't go larger than 255 and i'd definately go with a smaller profile than a 50 if that was the case.

i really liked my 245/50 michelin pilots....why do you want to go larger?

unless you go with a larger rim like 9.5+ i wouldn't go much bigger. the rims aren't meant for it and you'll just cause yourself more hassles as well as the tire will look funny.

I agree, that 255 is the biggest you should go. My friend runs those all around and has no problems in heavy turning and such.

Thanks

Thanks that's what I wanted to know. I was worrying about putting bigger tires on the front because the firehawks I have now skid a little at real slow sharp turns, but I was very pleased with them when they were new, but I'll look into those piloits.
Thanks

if you can afford the pilots you will not regret it.....i wish i could have afforded their 18" tire as i absolutely love them. no way i was spending 1800 just on my tires though.
