TPI problem, tb is wissels.
Hey guys. A friend of mine has an '87 GTA with a TPI 350. He was going to work yesterday and walked on it to pass someone, and after that it started running rough and would not really rev or anything. So we went for a ride, the car seems like its running very lean.
When you pop the hood, you can hear a wisteling sound comming out of the throttle body. We could not determine a 100% from wich part of the tb, but its definitley coming from the tb. Is it common to blow gaskets in the tb or one of the sensors on it to cause this sound, and possibly a lean condition? Any other suggestions? Car is not very driveable as it is. Need help asap!!! Thanks a lot guys! P.S. I have a stock LT1 Tb, do they fit a TPI car or not? Thanks guys. |
well if there actually is a leak by the gasket of the tb you should be able to figure that one out on your own. The only other thing that really comes to mind is maybe a vacuum line fell off? Not sure what else could give you that sort of a sound.

No, lol, he is watching the game, Calgary Flames vs. San Jose sharks. Its a big day for us Calgarians.

sounds like a blown throttle body gasket. its cheap, and between the TB and the upper plenum.

Check the large vacuum line that connects to the bottom of the TB on the passenger side with a 90* elbow. Mine fell off once the dat before I was heading across the state to Detroit and I was ****ting 24k Gold Bricks. Couldn't figure out what was wrong. Then I saw it... sitting there... hissing at me...
Then I plugged it back in and it drove fine again. |
