questions about the 84 and what i should do(i'm a newbie)

Just bought an 84 z28, its got a 350, 5 spd. I just bought my edelbrock performer intake, 600cfm 4 barrel, cam, exhaust for now. Eventually i'm gonna really work this but i wanna do a good rear and tranny first. i'm thinking ford 9 inch, but also would the Moser 12 bolt, 30 spline, with an eaton posi unit fit?? Also what clutch/tranny upgrade should i do? Thanks

In my opinion the best and most fun tranny upgrade would be the T-56 out of a 4th gen Camaro/Bird. As far as clutch goes I have a few friends that are running the Mcleod and they seem to really like it. One is running higher quality one and the other is running their standard one. As far as a rearend goes if you have the money for a Moser or 9" by all means run it. Yet another person I know has the Moser 12 bolt w/ 3.73 gears behind his stroked 400 rwhp 388.

For you there should be no fabrication needed. You will need to purchase a new crossmember which you can pick up at www.skulte.com (I know that there is a new site but I cannot remember the name of it.) Here is the link to the T56 page http://www.skulte.com/T56.html. Also there are tons of guys that have done it here and at www.thirdgen.org. I am sure if you do a search on this site you will find a crap load of matches. BTW total package should cost around $2K depending on what parts you buy and what the tranny costs. Good luck.
