O2 Sensor & Headers

When I install my headers will my O2 sensor be able to reach it? I have edelbrocks? Just wondering so I dont have any suprises this weekend. If it wont reach where can I buy an extension wire?

You may have to slightly re-route the O2 wire, but not extend them. The stock manifolds have the sensor pointing forward off the manifold flange down-pipe. Many 3rd gen camaro headers have it pointing towards the rear. Just break the O2 wire out of the wiring loom and loop it around to the back, instead of under/around the front of the engine mount like it is in a stock configuration. When you re-route it make sure it can't wiggle around and lay against the exhaust and burn it.

I changed mine to a heated O2 sensor. I also made sure it had plenty of clearence and that seemed to work. If you are going to lengthen the wire, make sure you solder the ends and not use a butt connector.

If you haven't replaced your O2 sensor, you probable should, and I think the replacments have a little longer wire (to be more universal) that will give a little more to move around. Use a one or two small wires ties to make sure it dosen't finds its way againts the exh.
