New motor ready to go in, need advise!
I have been working on my car all summer and I am finnaly ready to put my gm goodwrench 350 in. But I am stuck on what heads I should use.
I have 58cc 305 tpi heads that came off the 355 I had in the car. I hated the other motor because It only pulled to like 4500 rpm, now I am not sure if that was because of the heads or the basically stock tpi. I don't really want to put to much money into the heads. So I was thinking of maybe putting bigger valves into the 305 heads. I put a turbo 350 and a 3000 stall converter in it, so if the car only pulls to 4500rpm again its going to be worthless. I also picked up some slp runners and a 58 mm TPIS tb, So hopefully that will help a bit.
thanks for the help!

Heads is where you'll make power. You can improve the induction and exhaust system but if you're still using restrictive factory heads, you're holding back a lot of potential power.
Consider what it's going to cost to have 2.02/1.60 valves installed plus all the extra machine work needed, porting etc, then compare the cost of some new aftermarket heads with all that work already done to them. You'll pay a little more but have a much better product for the money.
You wouldn't do a big cam and intake swap then still use a factory TBI/carb and expect huge gains.

If not, swap the out for some good 64cc heads.
By the time you pay for a quality 3-angle valve job + big valves + machining down valve guides + new seals etc.. You could get some good 64cc, large port, big valve heads with new seals and springs, locks & retainers etc.....
