my other car died and wont start
 

i had the doors open and was looking in the trunk for about 15 mins when i tried to start the car. it clicked and wouldnt start. so i got a boost, it started right away, but i couldnt turn on 2 things at the same time. i turn on the wipers and the radio went out. so i decided i needed to go for a drive (dumb) :(
the car died as soon as i tried to make a 90 degree turn a few blocks away. walked back, got my roomate to boost it again, and this time it wouldnt take any charge. you think my alt is dead and totally killed my battery (beyond being able to take any boost at all? i have a used spare alt in the trunk i could throw on, ill have to get my other car and grab a (used but working) battery.

the car is a 1986 lincoln towncar signature 5.0
it has a new starter solonoid

nothing bugs me more than when my car wont start

Take the battery out and have it tested. If that is bad, like we suspect then replace it. After replacement, take the car out to have the charging system checked. That or take the alternator out to be tested.
