heater problems/question

ok so i've long since ditched my ecm and my heat doesn't work. I had no use for my ecm so I pulled it out a long time ago and never really noticed that my heat didn't work...... my car was off the road for winter (part 1) and then the weather got nice and now there is snow on the ground again (winter part 2  )

Has anyone else who has pulled out their ecm have a fix to the heating problem? I guess the ecm supplies the heater controls with power, so I tried jumping a wire that it hot when the ignition is on onto the harness for the heat controls. I used the wiring diagram from my haynes manual to locate the brown wire on the harness going to the selector (vent, defrost, heat) not the switch (high, med, low)

I've also tried putting a hot wire to both the selector and the switch and also just the switch and nothing works.

oh yeah and the fuse is fine

can anyone help me out? I want to be able to drive my car and not have to rely on the heat from the headers :p

Can't help you, you removed to many wires for any help. My opinion.

I now that 89 chevy pickups had a heater that was controlled through the eCM, not sure if an 85 would have the same configuration, as far as I knew, it didn't, but in that situation, modifying or removing an ECM could permanently disable the heat/AC controls.

anyone else know if I can do something to get my heat back?

I'm gonna see if I still have the ecm at my house, maybe I'll try and put that back in and see if it works that way

The ecm should have nothing to do with the heating system. It controls only the engine.

You may have cut a wire or taken off a ground somewhere. You will need to check all of the connections and make sure. Also theres a vacuum hose that must be hooked to the engine in order for the airbox door to operate.

I would get a schematic of the system if I were in your position and see what is missing or what not.
