Gear question

What do you all think about using steeper gears in a TPI car. I am using the 2.73:1 gears that came in this car now. Car used to be a TBI car. Now it is a TPI 350 with a 700r4. I was thinking about going to a 3.23 gear. Anyone have any experience with this? and what were your results like? I was always told that TPI does not like steeper gears. I would like to hear other peoples experience with this.

Well I have 2 bone stock TPI 350 cars.

1989 Firebird formula 350 = 3:27 60mph = 1850 rpm city 16mpg hwy 24

1991 Camaro Z-28 = 3:23 60mph = 1800 rpm city 16mpg hwy 25

I forgot to add that my 89 formula with the TBI 305 only gets 13mpg city, but 26 mpg hwy. Believe it or not, my 350 cars make a better daily driver based on gas milage.

89 formula TBI 305 @ 60mph = 1550 rpm with 2:73 gears
