Fuel Problem

Hi Guys,
305 tpi. If I start the car with my foot in the gas it will start and run. When I let my foot off the gas it dies.
Give my your opinions.
Thanks,
Sobo

After goofing with it today, I think I have a vacuum leak. I'm stupid when it comes to the vacuum system. I had a hose with a check valve coming from my intake to the front driver side of car disappearing under a canister. What is this? Sorry for my dumb question as I never toy with the vacuum.

Thats a vacuum canister....it just stores vacuum for the car b/c many things on those cars use vacuum to operate...like the brakes, and all the HVAC controls.

Vacuum leak is probable, lots of lines to dry out and crack.

Could also be a stuck open EGR valve. Thats the goldish looking circle thing on top of the base plenum...put you hand in there and underneath it through a hole in it...you'll feel a 'bottom' to it, try to push that up and see if it comes back down. If it doesnt move, you need to somehow get it to move.

If thats stuck open, the car wont idle.
