You're right, just throwing a code does not necessarily mean that the MAF is bad. Did you chance a look at his "MAF" readings? They were sky high at idle. And also not possible. 247-1036 g/sec at idle? The maximum theoretical limit of a 3rd gen MAF is 254/255 g/sec. My MAF sensor will read between 10-14 g/sec at idle. 10 g/sec when warm, sometimes dipping into the high 9's and 14 g/sec when just started/cold engine.

I agree that those MAF readings are crazy. The 1036 I don't see how its possible. Maybe a problem with the scanner? There are only 8 bits used to represent the amount of air being drawn in, which allows a maximum of 255 gr/sec. Suppose that the MAF is reporting those 254 he mentioned. That would cause a rich condition, to the point the engine would stall. What he has is a lean condition however. I don't see how the scanner is showing the correct readings, atleast with respect to the MAF.

I think high air flow at idle would mean lean. And O2 count backs that up.

Leaks? Fuel delivery issue?

First of all, closed throttle = idle.

Second, the minimum idle air screw changes the position of closed throttle. That means that adjusting the minimum idle air screw will change the setting of the TPS.

According to the Modus (Snap-On) and Genysis (OTC) you set the TPS with key on/ engine off.

If the engine is OFF, I guess it isn't going to idle very well is it?

But what does that have to do with adjusting the TPS then adjusting the minimum idle air screw?

Re: Check out these scantool readings for my MAF. Bad?

Ok guys, the original thread starter is here. lol. I have been reading you guys' post the last few days but havent had much time to do anything to my car. I just started a new job, so it's the least of my worries, and I have a fall back vehicle for now. I am gonna do some stuff to it this weekend. I am gonna set the min air first, then the TPS. I got nothing to lose. Im gonna once again check for vacuum leaks, even though I could'nt find any before. Im gonna go through wiring, and check grounds. Yada Yada Yada. Wish me luck!

Ok im outside messing with it right now, and i hooked up the scanner again and i never cared to notice before, but its saying my car was ranging from going 24mph to 127 while in park! It wont idle on its won with the Maf unplugged either. Between pins B and E on the MAF connector, I get O.L on my multimeter. This is not looking good, broken wire somewhere perhaps? Bad ground?
