if you plan on putting any kind of power infront of that trans you might want to consider this:
http://www.skulte.com/T56.html a T-5 is only good up to 300 hp and thats "rolling" into it, clutch dumps are a crap shoot, its not a matter of IF, its a matter of when it will grenade. im not a drag race guy, i like the road course and auto-x so my T-5s will survive easily. that link gives you all the info to do a swap. |
Retrofit T56
The major benefit to the Retrofit T56 is that it allows you to use a standard style clutch and bellhousing. It also has a mechanical speedometer sender which is similar to the 700R4 & T5 transmission (an electric 700R4 & T5 VSS will bolt right in). The draw backs are that the transmission is 1.9" longer, so the driveshaft and torque arm must be shortened. It is available new from Tom Sallee at Sallee Chevrolet for $2295. This is what I put in my 84. But I got it direct from Tremec for less. |
thank you every one.

I wrote a simple article some time ago when I converted my crap-o-matic to a T5:

thanks
