3rd Gen Cars With 4th Gen Rears... Rims???

I want to run the widest tire something like a 315 or 325.. 17's.. I have a rear out of a 97 anniversary Camaro.. I don't know what backspacing and width to get.. Anyone running this wide of a tire on a 4th gen rear end?

Here are some pics.. But I was told this is a stock 3rd gen rear...

you could get the zr1 rims 17x11's, but i don't know if that big of a tire will fit on there..then you just need spacers up front...

Was just going to order 4th gen spec front rims.. And not get the spacers.. Heard that works just fine.. I just don't know the rear specs I want to order for my rims...

The fronts are the big problem on 3rd gen cars. What you want to do will not work, for both the front wheels and the rear tire size.

If you intend to put 17x11's on the rear with a 4th gen rear in a 3rd gen car, I'd recommend the LS1 (98-02) rear over the LT1 (93-97) rear due to the LS1 rear being slightly narrower. You will need the 50mm offset wheels, an adjustable panhard bar, and a BFH ;) 315/35r17 is about the max, and remember, some tires are larger than others with the same advertised size.

as for the panhard bar I have the factory adjustable one off of the 97 anniversary with my rear.. Now you say I should get the LS1 Rims.. That good I was wanting to know the specs of some rims that I could put on my car. 275's for the front to much with LS1 rims on the front to? Anyone put LT1 rims an there car and run 315/35r17's.. I'm gonna try and run that same size but only in a Goodyear Eagle F1..

I have basically the same question just reversed. I have an additional set of 91 Z28 rear wheels, which are the same ones that are on the RS now. As most of you know the fronts are a different offset than the rears. SO anyway I also have a 96Z28 that is going to the shop to get a new trans and stall. With the stall I will need sticky tires, which I will put on the extra pair of rear 91 wheels. My question; Whould it be possible to get the 3rd gen wheels on my 96Z to save me $? I am going to get Et streets for the wheels and would love the versitility of switching the rear wheels b/t the two cars. However I am not sure if and/or how to do it. Could some one please set me straight?

Sorry I did not mean to step on anyones toes. I just figured it is basically the same question, that concerned both 3rd/4th gen offsets on a car that they didn't come with. You have a 4th gen rear in a 3rd gen, I want to put 3rd gen wheels on a 4th gen. Same question/issuse. I will start my own theard.

The 4th gen wheels won't fit without spacers on the front.

I had clearance issues with my 4th gen rear, 4th gen wheels and 275s. I had to roll the fender lip. You can get more tire under there but you will probably have to keep the car at stock ride height.

They'll bolt on alright. They'll also stick out the fenders just under 2 inches.

Hey, what type of wheels/size are you running and what size tires? Both front and rear? Thanks.

BTW: Camaro looks good!

I am running the Y2K Vette wheels. Fronts are 17X8.5 with 245/45/17 and 2" spacers. The backs are 17X9.5 with 275/40/17 with no spacers. That is on the 4th gen rear.

Thanks for the props:)
