1985 camaro Z28 Finnally got codes

When i was trying to work on it i started to try to pull a code didnt get it and then acidently i started it forgeting about the paper clip and then when i relized i turned it off quick.. now when i tried to pull it it says code 34 is that tainted code or is it real.... it says the problem is vacume, MAP sensor, or ECM.

as far as the car. i only have had it for a couple of weeks. and as far as work being done i dont think there was anything done based on what condition i found the spark plugs and wires...

i was thinking could this be a fuel delivery problem. cause my friends all tell me that my car has a strong fuel odor and i dont think its supposed to be that way

To sum it all up

Symptoms

-Fuel Odor
-rough idel at 550 RPMS
-ocasional stall.
------when in park
------when i stop at a light or similar stop.
-ocasional episodes of galloping
------during this hesitation in acceleration.
------very poor pick up
-check engine light flashes
------when i let go of accelerator and the RPMS begin to drop a little bit
------when the car starts having a galloping episode
------when ideling the RPMS at 550 and kicks up to 1200 then falls back
-No Trouble Codes show up

already tried

-Tune up
------capand rotor spark plugs and wires
-Fuel filter
-some vacume leaks detected and fixed
------have not inspected the whole vacume system (need vacume chart)

could be

ECM
Idle Air Control
EGR valve
TB bypass
TPS

what are the things with the question mark and does anyone else have any ideas thank you very much for all the help

code 34 is your MAF sensor. it may be bad or going bad. the bad thing about an 85 is its a one year production. an 85 MAF will work on the 86-89 cars, but the 86-89 style will not work properly on an 85. The 85 uses a pulsed a/c style output, and the 86-89 uses a DC voltage. The buffer on the 86-89 cars seems to be sufficient that it smooths out the pulses and results in a signal that's accurate enough for the 85 MAF to work.

i sugguest while the car is running lightly tap on the MAF with a screwdriver handle and listen to the change in the running of the car, chances are you need a new MAF if this happens.

also i cant remember if an 85 has a power and burn off relay, if it does then you might need to look at that as well. when you turn the key on you can feel the relay click to tell you which one is which. the burn off only works after you shut the car off. it burns the impurities off the reading wires in the MAF.

Wouldn't hurt to use some MAF cleaner first. The fuel smell may be the "charcoal canister", fuel tank evap. system. Also vacuum related. Personally, on a car this old, I would replace EVERY rubber hose on the car!!
