When you say “economical,” do you mean inexpensive, or do you mean tires that contribute to good fuel economy, aka “low rolling resistance”?

Either way: go on TireRack, put in your car, and tell it you’re looking for winter tires.

My personal favorite winter tire is the Bridgestone Blizzak. There are a variety of tire models under that name; I’ve had a few different ones over the years. All have been excellent. They’re not cheap, but they’re not the most expensive, and the traction they provide is excellent.

For a little less money, I’ve also had good results from General Altimax and Yokohama i-Pike. Michelin Pilot Alpins are also good (but not cheap). I’m not sure which of these, if any, are available in your size.

An option to consider: get an extra set of wheels, narrower than stock and possibly in a smaller diameter if they’ll clear the brakes. That might lead you to a less expensive tire. (And you buy the wheels once but replace the tires every few years, so the tire savings will add up over time.) Narrower also leads to better snow traction, and a smaller wheel means more sidewall, which means better pothole protection.
