What about an EV or Hybrid Camaro?

I don't know if this has been discussed int this forum, but thinking out of the box, if there can be a Tesla Roadster or Porsche EV why not EV Camaro? What are your thoughts on this?

EVs have a lot of catching up to do with gas cars in one important way: the ability to run flat out until the gas tank runs dry, fill the tank up again in a couple minutes, and do it again.

I like to take my fourth gen to HPDE events, where I take it out and drive as fast as I can around a racetrack for twenty minutes out of each hour.

There isn’t a mass-market EV that can do this today. The Rimac Concept One did a great job at the Nurburgring, but that was seven minutes, and you can’t just go buy one of those anyway. A Tesla Model S P100D can’t even go three minutes at full steam before it’s overheated.

When electric powertrain tech has caught up on that, I’ll be cool with an electric Camaro.

GM has said that the Camaro is not the platform for that type of technology.

Correct, but soon that will change. Things change so fast these days.

That is such an annoying truth of EVs. Battery range is the #1 hesitation people (me included) have when buying an EV and even Tesla hasn't gotten this right yet. This study shows it pretty nicely https://www.autolist.com/tesla#section=news&s=a after you run out of power you then have to worry about the extended charging time before you can get going again
