Valve Lapping question

I'm new to this group. Little background, I bought a L99 6.2L with tranny from a guy who fell on bad luck. Old camaro was rear ended, I got the engine and tranny only. I completely went through the motor, took it down to bare block. Didn't see an ounce of damage.

I'm going back with an eagle forged crank, rods, and pistons I cannot remember the brand but the kit is for 416CI. Had cylinders honed .005" over. Factory heads are ported by Katech.

Ive put all the bottom back together, new bearings, Cam is new and in. Beginning on top end now.

I went with new Titanium intake valves. I was going to use the old exhaust valves however I had Katech do one of their valve jobs. They said do NOT lap the Titanium as it will take the oxide coating which will shorten the life. Fine. But what about the exhaust? I've bought new racing steel exhaust. Do I lap those or not?

Thanks for any Guidance you can provide..

JHayes

Re: Valve Lapping question

I think it’s fine, but I’d be inclined to ask Katech.

Re: Valve Lapping question

Thanks. Fyi, Katech They said it's not necessary if I have new valves but could lightly if desired.
