torn between getting '13-'15 ZL1 or '16 SS... or z06?
torn between getting '13-'15 ZL1 or '16 SS... or z06?
*not first time poster but long time since ive posted here. tried to do a search but my google-fu must be weak.
So im looking for a fun weekend/semi daily driver car. I have always like they older ZL1's looks and the fact it comes s/c from the factory. *seems a pulley/exhaust/tune would really be the only mods needed (or atleast id have to do). the only negative, imo, is their weight. Just way to heavy. besides that, they have a great look to them. They seem to be going between 32-35k for a decently low mileage one.
On the other hand, the 2016 SS's are making about 130ish HP less but performance wise, the older ZL1's and the new SS's are almost the same. Im sure thats mostly due to the 5-600 lbs less it weights. but im finding '16 ss's for around 28-32k in my area.
All that also being said... with the new vette coming out, im sure prices for 6th and 7th gen vettes are going to fall. should i just wait and find a good price for a z06?
I guess im asking, which would be the "better" pick... Camaro wise? I know its all subjective and im SURE its been asked 1000 times. i also know being in the 5th gen section, it may be alittle bias, but imo, as much as i WANT to like the ZL1, the 16 SS seems to make more sense. Can anyone help an older camaro owner rekindle that flame into possibly getting back into 1?

Re: torn between getting '13-'15 ZL1 or '16 SS... or z06?
I had a 2010 2SS, 6-speed and drove it for 3 years daily. From the design it was just awesome (only small changes like heritage grille, lowering springs and wheels spacers), performance for todays traffic plenty enough fast. Chassis a different world from the 3rd and 4th Gen.
Having said that it is clear that the ZL1 is different kind of car: looks even better/meaner, performance and so on.
Then came the 6th Gen. For me the design is not that bold and mean as a 5th Gen ZL1. the 6th Gen ZL1 is much overdone and looks like design by Star Wars... For those who are interested in a lot of electronic gimmicks, this is the best Camaro for you today (not for me)
It depends what is more important to you. Are you going to race or are you more into cruising? Do you like electronic fancy stuff or just a good working radio? Which one do you like more by the looks? Questions you have to answer yourself...
For me it would be no question. The 6th Gen is a fantastic car but didn't warm my heart nearly as much as did the 5th Gen back in the day!
