Question Pup-pup-pup popping sound...

I know this is going to sound weird, but hopefully someone else knows what I am talking about.
My car is a 2012 2SS/RS/L99.
I was sitting in my car after starting her up and just had her in park. I was sitting and doing some things on my phone before I started my drive home. I had not heard this sound before, but it may be because I usually have the radio on. It was off on this occasion. As my car is sitting there running, I hear a pup-pup-pup-pup sound coming from the engine area. It went on for a few seconds, and ended with I can only describe as a low fart sound. Sort of the pup-pup sound but closer together and at once.

Anywho...is this something normal, or something I should have checked out? I am new to these engines, since I am a convert from Mustang GTs, and not familiar with what is "normal". It is totally stock.

Any help in solving this puzzle would be greatly appreciated.

Re: Pup-pup-pup popping sound...

With it being an L99, I am wondering it the AFM/VVT isn't kicking in when it shouldn't. I'd have it checked out at the dealership, have them run some diagnostics just to be sure.

Thank you. I have been a long time Mustang GT owner and was not sure about the Chevy engines. I didn't know if this was just a common occurrence, or if it was very unusual.

It's pretty tough to diagnose using spelled out phonetics on a message board. lol

I almost wonder if it wasn't the HVAC system. The HVAC systems in these cars make REALLY weird noises and everything I've read indicates it's completely normal.

Re: Pup-pup-pup popping sound...

I stand by the best way being let the dealership diagnose it.

They still use air pumps to speed up the catalyst heat up? Used to, on the LT1's in the Caprices.

Re: Pup-pup-pup popping sound...

I've heard the same thing from my '11 2ss rs L99, seems like it only does it from between 5min. to 20min. after start up, then goes away after total warm up.
