I hope UT, Burago, or Maisto makes it. Hell I even hope Jada Toys and their Dub City's Big Time Muscle makes it. I for sure would not want Welly and to a certain extent, even Hot Wheels to make it, as I didn't like how they did the C6 Corvette. But it's light yrs better than Welly.

Hot Wheels would be ok, they usually do pretty good with the body and paint, and interior detail is ok, but where they fall flat is in the chassis and engine detail.
Maisto has really came along way in the past few years and I would be happy with them making a Camaro Concept. They just recently released there version of the C6, but I haven't had a chance to compare it with the Hot Wheels C6.

If Maisto or Jada makes them I will definitely have atleast three, otherwise I will have to wait and see. Has to be 1:24 scale or larger though .

And talk about qaulity! Autoart makes Mach 1s/Cobras ect and they are top notch. Only one company did a LS1 Camaro--Welly and it was junk.

The camaros are out there! Maybe not in as many styles or scales. The biggest reason you don't find them is like in life they leave the shelf faster than any other model

As for the other forms of mockups of the Camaro... I wouldn't mind seeing Revell doing the plastic model kits instead of AMT. I've found that Revell makes much higher quality, with greater detail. As I mentioned with the model of the C6 I picked up, I was impressed that, despite the box saying it was moulded in a single colour, that it was actually moulded in semi-gloss black, aluminum, with interior pieces being grey and the actual body in white. With AMT... Let's just say that I can pick out a number of extreme flaws with the 1997 30th anniversary Camaro kit, in comparison to the real thing sitting in my driveway...

Thats really dissapointing. The selection of 1:18 Camaros is really poor. I have a few but not the ones I really want. I have:
red 67 SS/RS convertible
orange 69 Baldwin Motion Phase III
Red 70 Baldwin Motion Phase III
red 82 Z28 (the only third gen 1:18 I have ever found)
white/orange 97 30th anniversary Z28 convertible
red/silver 2002 35th anniversary SS
black 2002 SS
White/red/blue 2002 SSOA SS

I hope there is a 5th gen before too long as well as a few more of the earlier models.

Yea, ETRL sucks donkey b... I've got a 94 Z28 and 96 SS and it looks like snap-together-model quality. The 98 Z28 Revell/monogram is way better. I really wish Tamiya would do one, since I've seen them do a Mustang GT before(94, IIRC).

30thZ286SPD, the only thing I hope Hot Wheels would improve on is their sidewalls of their tires, small gripe I know, but the main thing that ruins a lot of die-cast and scale car models are the wheels/tires and their relation to the car. I have a Viper Coupe from Hot wheels and it looks good. I wanted a C6 and I see Hot wheel's and it was so so. I really wish UT would make one, but I haven't seen them in a while and they are not as widespread or well known as some other brands. I got a UT C5 convertible and a McLaren F1 and I believe they retailed for $50 back when I bought them. On the C5, the carpet is not plastic, it's felt-like!!! The detail is superb and so is the plastic on the dash and seats. The F1 has Michelin in white on the sidewalls and has an antenna on the roof among other nice details.

Nowadays, I seem to buy BigTime Muscle as the details are fantastic for the price. But you must buy the mandatory bling I just picked up a futuristic-retro looking flatbed truck along with a '71 Z28 to put it on the bed from the LA auto show!!! Can we say cool?

Re: So where is the 1/18 diecast 5th gen?

I got my C6 last spring off ebay.

If they made a 1:24 scale I would probably just wait till someone made a 1:18 scale since the rest of my cars are all 1:18.

Already assuming that it is going to suck based on the scale? Sheesh...nothing like reading between the lines and jumping to conclusions.

Sure, Welly isn't the greatest, but what do you guys expect for a $10 car? Danbury Mint quality? Get outa here. At least SOMEONE made a 4th gen Camaro die-cast.

Wait and see who makes it and ACTUAL quality before you start moaning about it.

I agree, if anything is going to be plasitc I would prefer Revell. I've built the AMT '97 30th Anniversary Z28 Convertible. And since it was the only '97 model out, actually the only LT1 based Camaro model out now I got another one + a '96 Firebird. I chopped the top off the Firebird and turned the 30th Anniversary Convertible into a T-Top car to match my car. AMTs plastics are thinner and lack many details. I've also built Revell's '98 Z28 and '02 35th Anniversary SS both were excellent models. I've just started work on Revell's C6 and it seems excellent so far.

Regardless if its a $10 Welly I would expect more accurate proportions of the body since its a lisenced GM product, and on the other end of the scale I don't think anybody expects a Welly or any other cheap die-cast to have the level of detail that something from the Danbury Mint would have. I think most including me would be very happy with something in between.
