new camaro motor?
hello was just up at chevrolet because i have been thinking of buying a 2007 corvette. started talking to some people about the new camaro, because iam not sure which one to get. anyway he tells me the engine in the camaro will be the ls2 same one as in the vette. i ask him what about the rumored 500 hp one, he says in two years that car will be out. he also said chevy is taking 10,000 dollar deposits, and the first year the camaro will be very hard and expensive to get. anyway thanks and take care.

The concept is powered by the LS2. By all indications the production car will not be.

The new car will have a LS3 like the new Vette as the LS2 will be gone fromt he Vette this next year. Not sure what the HP rating will be but they will be close. The 500 plus Camaro will be out about a year to year and a half after the Camaro comes back. As for deposits of $10K that is just talk. As for very hard to get? At first they will be expensive and hard to find till supply catches up to demand. 6 months after intor there should be a good supply to help knock down the dealer rip offs that will accure. If you want one the in the first 6 months you will have to pay the dealers mark up to be one of the first owners. The Mustang went throught a similar thing and it all balances out. |
you have to be careful about what you hear from a car dealer. They don't really have a particularly special, reliable source for technical information about new cars coming out. There are many people on this site that have much closer connections to the development of the new camaro. And I can't imagine placing a $10,000 deposit for a vehicle that hasn't been produced yet and isn't even part of a limited production run.

I do know that the base V6 engine will be the 3.9 V6 (same engine in the Malibu SS) w/ 240 hp

From what I have heard there will be 300 plus reasons to like it. I assume it will be a unseen version of the 3.6 DOHC DI that is not on the market yet. |
Maybe I'm alone in this line of thought, but I'm a lot more inclined to wait a year or two for Chevy to work out any kinks before I look into buying one.
Or maybe it's just because I won't have the funds in time for the first year . . . :cry: |

its the first year...theres bound to be some stuff that will have to be worked out in the car... oh and no offense to anyone...but i dont wanna pay an arm, leg, and maybe another arm for that car if i can wait |
I say stop assuming and wait for the car specs to be properly released... hell they could even have less than 400 HP... who the heck knows!!!!
All I know is that If they are over priced I am just gointo get another 4th gen!!! |

-Definately! As much as a love my '93, I have had tons of problems modifying, tuning, and repairing. And no vendors/dealers/shops ever seem to know about any of the "differences". Or maybe it's just because I won't have the funds in time for the first year . . . :cry: |
