Gauges ON the dash.

What does everything think about putting the gauges onthe dash?

I suspect when the radio, etc. gets put in, the dash will be pushed outward (instead of inward like it currently is).. so you could have the gauges placed ontop of the dash. You'd have more space on the console to put stuff, and you'd easily be able to see the gauges when needed.

Assuming they don't change the dash to be modern, I think this would look good. The rest of the dash is too plain, currently.

I for one love the gauges on the console as I had a 69 new with them in it and always liked that about that car. Some things on the dash could be different but I'm sure they will when it comes out but one thing I like is the console gauges

I'm sure it will take some getting used to if the gauges aren't where you'd expect them to be.

IMO, keep the gages where they are - if moved, it should at least be a 'modern' layout - but just raising them above the radio may not be the best idea.

if it were up to me id scrap the whole damn interior. i hate retro interiors with a passion

Sine this is a concept, LOTS of things could change. Don't start expecting the interior to be exactly the same, nor anything else.

i like the console gauges, but i kind of doubt thats where they will be on the production car.

Actually I was thinking taking the gauges in the same shape they are and putting them top to bottom between the tach and speedo. Push them apart about another inch or 2 to make room. The console gauges are neat but for keeping an eye on things while driving they'd be very distracting down there.

Re: Gauges ON the dash.

I'll go out on a limb here and suggest that the interior will see the most noticeable changes when it goes into production. The chrome and brushed aluminum is too expensive to put into the production car as well. IMHO, the gauges on the console look good and I, for one certainly appreciate that "heritage" feature.
As anybody who tracks their car will tell you, the gauges need to be up high, so you don't have to take your eyes off the road to look at 'em!
If the powers that be decide that the gauge placement on the console is too important a "heritage" feature to lose, that's cool with me, but at least then let's have a HUD throw those readings up onto the windshield where one can see them easily!

Best regardSS,

Elie

i really wonder when GM is going to be different for a change, not that i like the intieror... but when GM is going to have the balls again to lead the industry with "different" whether its good or bad, when will they start to rethink the car, and make the customer rethink thier car...

Watch the concept debut video again. If I recall correctly, Lutz mentions the auxillary guages as being an important part of the interior that would remain if the car was produced. I like the guages there, Lutz likes them there, and I assume those will stay as they are.

If they stay the design needs to change. I saw them up close and being orange lit they are a BITCH to see what the gauge reads.

LEAVE THEM where they are at... just like a 69:cool:

I agree with you getgone. I had acutally thought of that. . . the gauges being hard to read. I hope they leave them where they are, but make them easy to read. Good point. By the way, I have an uncle that lives in Middleville!

There is a reason that they have things like "Heads Up Display" and that is to keep your eyes on the road. Where they are now is just poor design. I am 100% positive they will not remain there in the production car.
