Consumer Ordering Guide Now Available on Chevy.com!

Just saw on Chevy.com that the consumer ordering guide is available as well as a FAQ section. A few new links on there as well. Good stuff! It says right on there that production begins in February with a spring delivery with NO Z28 model in the 1st year of production. In the FAQ is states that pricing will be made available closer to production date, sometime early next year, so the so called "big" news for the Sunday night/Monday morning might not be that big at all. I highly doubt that GM would release this info today and then any of this change 2 days later.

Thanks for posting. Was going to just do that, just too busy reading all the info!

Confirmed, the PDF on the Camaro website clearly states NO BLUE for the SS. Doesn't look to me like anything is different from the leaked pre-order workbook?

Weird how it says you need 2LT or 2SS to get those cool little gauges by the shifter.

These "2" packages look like they contain some pretty sweet features. Like the 9 speaker stereo. Wonder what the optional stripe package looks like

1997FormulaBird 10-10-2008 12:15 PM

leather seats only on 2LT and 2SS

thats kind of a bummer

Can someone clairify for me the difference between the 1LS and the 1LT? Fog lights, floor mats, availability of the RS package, what else? Thanks.

Q. In reviewing the Camaro model lineup, I noticed there is no Z28 model. Are
there plans for a Z28 model?
A. The “Z28” moniker has an honored place in Camaro’s history. But as of now,
Chevrolet will not have a Z28 model available in the first production year.
Chevrolet continues to review market opportunities and does not comment on
future product plans.
"Hiatus", not "dead"... at least that's how I choose to interpret it. :D

The LS comes with steel wheels.

Primus 10-10-2008 12:33 PM

I'm having a hard time estimating pricing on these. I don't see how they could charge more then $500 for the upgrade from 1LS to 1LT. $750 tops.

jg95z28 10-10-2008 12:39 PM

I have a sneaking suspicion that they're going to try to price the base LS (no options) as close as possible to $20k... so who knows? :p

Primus 10-10-2008 12:47 PM

Looking at it, I think that pricing for the 6 cylinder Camaro will be very similar to the Malibu. Maybe a little cheaper, but not much.

Malibu:

1LS: $22,275
1LT: $23,175
2LT: $25,375

I suspect the Camaro will be about $500 cheaper on each package. RS Package may be around $1,750 for the 1-2LT.

Ah but the base MSRP on the V6 2009 Mustang is $19,735... and you remember what Scott said about pricing... ;)

Primus 10-10-2008 01:23 PM

Yeah. I'm hopefull it's close to $20k but I think they will argue that the base camaro is better equipped then the base Mustang.

Having said that, nothing would make me happier then being able to get a 2LT RS for under $25k but I just don't see it happening. That's my quandary. I'd like to order a 2LT RS but I fear it will exceed what I'm willing to pay. I know you can change your order prior to build but I'd really like to avoid that if possible.

You think they'll give us floormats, fog lamps, power seats, sport cloth seats (better cloth) and aluminum wheels for $500? If so, that's a bargain.

Ford.com actually says $19,995 on most pages other than the initial "select a car" which does show $19,735.

Scott has said that it would be "comparable" to Mustang we've often heard a "slight premium" over Mustang from GM insiders. But even for a 1LS with steelies, I don't see how they're going to stay under 20k. Even in its most base guise Camaro has a significantly more advanced powertrain and chassis than Mustang.

I really, really would love to see them blow us away. If they did somehow price this car at $20,000-$21,000 I think they'll fly off the lots despite the economy.
