Lightbulb Build Your 2009 Camaro thread III (Prices Included)

Ok I’ve updated this for a third time from both of these threads………..
http://web.camaross.com/forums/showthread.php?t=448548
http://web.camaross.com/forums/showthread.php?t=422890

Before I start to get flames for these prices this is how I found them.

Remember we are looking at 2009 prices so I added inflation.

I started at Ford.com by pricing out a totally base, no option V6 Deluxe Model (lowest price) Mustang @ $19,995.

I then took in account inflation for two years at 3% a year. This brought the price up to 21,212.70.

Add roughly $500 to this because the Camaro will have more content and you get $21,750 for a base price Camaro.

I also realize your brother’s friend’s Dad may have purchased a new 2002 Mustang GT for $20,000. But let’s look at it like this. $20,000 in 2002 is equal to about $24,600 in 2009. Also my numbers are MSRP and have nothing to do with any deals you cut with the dealership, negotiations, rebates, etc…. etc………….and don’t forget Camaro’s have always and will continue to be slightly higher priced.

I’m figuring MSRP not transaction price. But note my prices have come slightly down since the second time I figured this.

The engines should be very close to production numbers, as well as the Z28 being the higher up model. You can argue the SS will be the top model until your blue in the face……
……but bottom line YOU WILL BE WRONG!

I had a little fun by guessing with how some of the options are set up (such as wheels and the RS package). I looked at how GM packages options on their other cars

Also before you start jumping up and down over these prices lets compare the Camaro to what Mustang should cost in 2009.

_________________________Base Price______Fully Loaded
Mustang V6 standard_______$21,050.00______$24,350.00
Mustang V6 deluxe_________$21,155.00______$25,970.00
Camaro V6 base___________$21,750.00______$27,360.00
Mustang V6 premium_______$22,080.00_______$27,830.00
Camaro V6 RS_____________$23,750.00______$29,360.00
Camaro V6 base vert_______$25,750.00______$31,360.00

Mustang V6 standard vert___$26,170.00______$29,640.00
Mustang V6 deluxe vert_____$26,275.00_______$31,260.00
Mustang V6 premium vert____$27,205.00_______$33,070.00
Mustang GT deluxe_________$27,445.00_______$33,430.00
Camaro V6 RS vert__________$27,750.00_______$31,560.00
Camaro SS________________$28,145.00_______$35,285.00
Mustang GT premium________$28,695.00_______$33,445.00
Mustang GT deluxe vert______$32,560.00_______$38,725.00
Camaro RS/SS vert_____________$33,145.00_______$38,485.00
Mustang GT premium vert____ $33,815.00_______$38,734.00

By the way the Shelby GT500 starts at 41k……so the Z28 will out perform and out price the Ford.

And yes convertibles REALLY do cost that much more….Ford charges about $4800 for their option on the Stang.

Ok I think that’s all…..please enjoy!

Camaro Super Sport----------------28,145
Premium Package---------------------875
Performance Package---------------2,000
Rally Sport Package(RS/SS)---------1,000
--------------------------------------------
Total (before TTL and destination)--32,020

I don't see why they would go with 18x8.5 wheels with 245/40 tires. Didn't the 4th gens come with optional 17x9 with 275's? Seems a bit narrower for no good reason. Also, I know this is a made up thing, but I hope that they will have the good stereo with out an in-dash 6 cd changer. That is what the passenger is for. And I didn't have to "pay" for leather! I hate leather. This will probably end up being fairly accurate, seems like you put a lot of thought into it. 32k isn't that bad.

Stars, you and some of the others probably don't hear this often enough but thanks for all the hard work you but into this site. I don't post that often because quite frankly I don't have any of the inside knowledge to share. I mean I wish Scott would share some of that knowledge with me so I could have more input here, but I will be content with him giving me a hard time and all the I'm sure it's hard for some of you that might know what is going on behind the scenes to keep quiet with the people that seem to know it all and the people that don't research before they post on here, but thanks for sticking around. Well I'm gonna be politically incorrect and wish everyone a Merry Christmas and here's to a new year full of Camaro news.

That’s just one of those things I guessed on that I'm probably not quite right on.

Thanks for the positive feedback though

Limited Slip Differential $195
Bose Monsoon Premium sound system with in-dash 6 CD changer and MP3 connection $600

While I'd love to get my grubby little hands on a V8, something like this V6 is probably what I'll actually get. Besides, a 300HP V6 is nothing to sneeze at, and would be a big step up from my 3.8.

If i can get a fully optioned Z/28 with 500+ HP for under 45k, i will do it in a damn second. (minus the sunroof)

Also, i think the Performance pack on the SS is a little overpriced. But overall, great job.

Super Sport Camaro (SS)
MSRP $ 28,145.00

PERFORMANCE PACKAGE $2000
RALLY SPORT PACKAGE(RS/SS) $1000
6Speed Auto $850
Monsoon Sound System $600
Sunroof $1200

Total $33,795.

Though I may opt for either the Leather seating or Premium Package also.

About average for the vehicles I like.

I'd rather substitute brushed aluminum wheels in place of the polished.

I better start working some OT... LOL

Haha!

Funny you say that about accounting, my Mom has told me that a few times....

But actually I'm an HR major and I'm going into construction mgmt.

The Spring Semester is my last and I've already got an offer with Kiewit's offshore oil construction division as a field engineer. It’s a very nice offer and I’ll be able to afford the 5th gen, so I'll prob end up taking it.

You clearly have alot of thought into this and it looks very good. The only thing not previously mentioned that stands out to me is that (possibly just wording) only the drivers seat is heated? I don't know of any new cars that come with only 1 chair heated. I know my g/f would be pissed and cold sitting in the passenger seat haha.
