Exactly. A limited ZL1 Camaro Super car would be awesome and would generate alot of interest. I know it would mine! More than a Big Block throw back but a real road racer car.

I do like the Blue Devil name though, and Ive always liked the Sting Ray name as well. ZL1 would link Vette to Camaro. I dont know much about the Vettes though but the names are cool.

Stingray was never really a trim level, just a body style. I am not too keen on a super Vette being called Stingray. I am fairly certain Blue Devil is just a code name. Besides, Corvette BD doesn't sound nearly as good as Corvette ZL1.

I still like the idea of a Corvette Zora supercar.

Yeah that sounds good. I was just saying the Stingray and BD the names sounded good the way Panther sounds good. Putting my 2 cents on something I know little about(vette) A ZL1 Vette along a ZL1 Camaro would be pretty cool...

How is it you get to post some of that stuff and if I even hint at it I get zapped by "V-chips" and get black Suburbans following me around?

I'm a college student and no one takes me seriously, I also don’t have any real connections anyway.....

I only dropped like 1 or 2 big hints in this thread.

And none of the info I posted in this thread is in stone anyway....

I'll delete the thread if I'm asked to....

Like the Duramax option. That is a pretty big hint.

:2 Before you say otherwise - wider rear tires also "mess up the ride", decrease fuel economy, and cost more.

:3 And above 500hp, you're going to light up tires. Thats how it goes. And if you're lighting up 315's on the street several times a day (cause you're driving it that rough and showing off) you deserve to go through tires that quickly! Also super wide wheels mean more suspension and body clearance, and deeper wheel wells mean less interior room.

:4 Own one of the newer Mazdas? Cant do much to a lot of em. All these jacks for aftermarket? Not a chance they'll give em to you.

:5 I made my stock head unit work with amplifiers, and if I wanted to on a new car I'd do it again. Its not hard and there are products out there that splice it all for you.
1: yes i have.

2: if someone buys a car like this proposed z28, they are not really gonna care about fuel economy, or a luxury ride (this is at least my opinion). yes they cost more but that is not an issue (again, this is my opinion).

3: i know, its hard to believe people drive a 500 hp car like this, but i drive my 400 hp car like this and will certainly drive this one as well. whats the point of owning it if you cant have any fun?

4: this is why the radio needs to be the standard gm style double din or even a single din without the climate controls integrated.

5: this works but there is signal degradation when going this route, plus the aftermarket offers much better stuff along the lines of head units and speakers then the factory could ever offer.

these are just my opinions, but they make the car easier to personlize, which is important to a lot of folks out there.

thanks

a "Z/28" should not be limited production. I know it was in the first gen, but since then it never has been, and shouldnt be again.

i doubt the Z28 will even have an automatic availible... if they actually do it right. the first gen didnt, and cobras dont either. i also wouldnt be surprised to see hardtop only.

What do you consider limited production? Did you mean ZL1? The ZL1 COPO 427 was limited production at 69 Cars. There were quite a bit more Z28's

I totally agree with you on almost all those points - but there are sacrifices that have to be made. I stuck with the stock head unit cause i dont like the look of aftermarket. I also have a convertible and park with the top down when i can. I can also say with a clear mind that I see no problem in getting new tires every year - but even us crazy-power-hungry knuckleheads are still technically not the total market, even for a "Supercar Variant"

The guy in charge of Corvette now said it too - half the people that buy a Z06 dont need that power and will never use it - but its the fact that they HAVE it, that makes them happy. To brag about it at the pub, so to speak.

...
Imagine all those young men and kids that had fantasies about the GT500, about the ZL1 Camaro. They arent hardcore racers (well, most of em atleast). They're probably in their 50's or 60's. But perhaps the look of a super sleek and sexy vette is appealing - but there is nothing that beats a childhood fantasy, a look of a brute- a musclecar. I'm sorry, I love the vette, but it doesnt look the way the concept Camaro looks.

A well built ZL1 Camaro that wasnt too agressive, wasnt too edgy, and was still driveable (much like the Z06 corvette is) would sell. The more hardcore, the smaller the market. By running the knife edge, they can sell more of them. Give us just enough to keep us lunatics happy through the warranty period, give everyone else as much insanity as they'll buy. If its done right, You'd see the % sales of ZL1's & Z28's as you do Z06 Vettes. That should be the goal. Make it driveable for the average lunatic and keep it as affordable as possible. We need sales to keep a new camaro alive.

I used to agree with you 100%, now only about 90%. While a high compression motor sounds sweet and turns heads, the whine of a blower tends to do the same, but you get the (holy $h*t what is in that look) when they hear it. Have you had a chance to drive or ride in an 03/04 Cobra yet? Superchargers are fun

Yeah, and they pull from just about every rpm as well. However, a good high revving, high compression big horsepower NA motor is extremely satisfying as well.

Yeah I know a convertible is a stretch, but why wouldn't they offer a 6-speed automatic, especially it it comes with paddle-shift technology? That would be a kick to play with on the twisties.

Don't get me wrong, I love stick shifts, but the only way my wife would ever drive it is if it had an automatic. (She can drive a stick, she just won't.) On second thought, maybe I do want a 6-speed manual.
