Build Your 2009 Camaro thread II (Prices Included)
As many of you saw a few months ago I put together a model and options list for the new Camaro.
Since then, different models, engines and content have been mentioned here.
So I’ve decided to update this thread. For the prices I started with current Mustang base prices, adjusted to 2009 dollars by adding 2% a year and then added $700 since I believe the Camaro will cost between $500 and $1000 more.
Notice how many engines I added

Re: Build Your 2009 Camaro thread II (Prices Included)
So before you start jumping up and down over these prices lets compare to what Mustang should cost in 2009.
_________________________Base Price______Fully Loaded
Mustang V6 standard_______$21,050.00______$24,350.00
Mustang V6 deluxe_________$21,155.00______$25,970.00
Camaro V6 base___________$21,750.00______$29,620.00
Mustang V6 premium_______$22,080.00_______$27,830.00
Camaro V6 RS_____________$24,750.00______$32,620.00
Camaro V6 base vert_______$25,750.00______$33,620.00
Mustang V6 standard vert___$26,170.00______$29,640.00
Mustang V6 deluxe vert_____$26,275.00_______$31,260.00
Mustang V6 premium vert____$27,205.00_______$33,070.00
Mustang GT deluxe_________$27,445.00_______$33,430.00

Mustang GT deluxe vert______$32,560.00_______$38,725.00
Mustang GT premium vert____ $33,815.00_______$38,734.00
-Our base model is just slightly more
-Our V6 vert is the cheapest on the list
-The 310hp V6 is nearly $2700 less than the cheapest GT
-The SS is only $700 more than the GT base price per base price
-The SS vert is also less than the GT vert
With more standard content and more performance Ford doesn’t stand a chance!
All of the above numbers are adjust 2% for each year from 2006 to 2009.

Re: Build Your 2009 Camaro thread II (Prices Included)
It looks like you really did your homework. I wish everyone that posted on here making wild claims did the same. Good work!
That being said, I think the premium package is a little low considering the content (maybe $2k?), and the sunroof should be closer to $1k. Otherwise, I think you may be a profit...
PS - If any one cares, I would sign today for a RS package with auto (damn wife), premium package, upgraded stereo and polished wheels.

Re: Build Your 2009 Camaro thread II (Prices Included)
I would buy an SS with:
PREMIUM PACKAGE- $1515
PERFORMANCE PACKAGE- $2000
Bose Premium sound $600
Convertible $4000
That comes out to $36,260
So 5 year payment @ 6% is $700 a month
In 2010 when I plan on buying I should be able to afford this.

Re: Build Your 2009 Camaro thread II (Prices Included)
I would hope that a power sunroof is not $2000. That's about twice as much as it should be...
I also don't see many people buying a non-convertible V6 Camaro for the MSRP of a V8 GTO....
On top of that, I don't see many people dropping $8,000 MORE than a GTO on a loaded SS....
I also think $2000 is a bit much for the upgrades included in the SS's "Performance package".
And, finally, I still think that a 310hp V8 could be offered at about the same cost and retail as that 310hp HF V6... with better results.
Call me stubborn.

Come to think of it, the sunroof should be more like $1200...that sounds better…
Concerning the overlap with the GTO base price; I agree most sales prob wont come from these loaded up V6 cars.....but at the same time it’s not like the numbers aren’t accurate. I’d say they are pretty close. If the GTo starts around 30k in 2009, I’d expect it to max out around 38k.

That won't work, IMO.

I'm trying........

Take note that the hard top SS is $37,745.00 in my experiment here,
So they would be roughly the same....
For this to work the GTO is going to have to come to market as more then just a re-skinned Camaro or just not come at all.

But, still, I don't know that a loaded SS should sticker for the same as a loaded GTO. I think it's gotta come down to the $35k range, loaded up.
Re: Build Your 2009 Camaro thread II (Prices Included)
Firebird... blah blah blah
If you want to be really complete and spend too much time on this, you would be making them into option packages like 1SA, 2SA, etc.
Those top end prices are getting up there. I guess "a nickel ain't worth a dime no more."
