LOL try living in Los Angeles where you can get a low end house for about
$500,000 close to a $3000 a month pament
and the average person makes about 35-40K a year.
Im married and together we make about 60K a year and still just dream about buying a house! All i can do right know is save and go from there

You know it's bad when you see 2 and 3 families living in the same house.
I tell people what is going on and they think I am crazy.

Many around the country have no clue of what is going on in California with property values and taxes. If they only knew how good most have it!

New Jersey is right up there with California in terms of property values and taxes. Two and three families in a split level house is a common occurence. My brother moved out to Anaheim and pays something like $1300 for a single bedroom apartment. In the more destitute section of my town a single of approximately the same size goes for $2000. To me its not crazy, its just the cost of living in a metro area on the coasts.
My _mortgage_ is $1200 a month for an 1850sq ft, 3 Bed, 2 Bath, Lvng Room, Fmly Room, Fireplace, Dng Room, Lg. Kitchen, finished basement w/ kitchen area, 1 car garage... Though I won't try and brag about the land, just over a 1/4 acre. Enough for me though...
Though, admittedly, we did get the house for a good price since it wasn't on the market, and belonged to my grandfathers best friend 3 yrs ago ($116,000). Smaller houses (2 Bedroom) around me are now selling for $150,000+.

I live in a suburb of Cleveland, and was able to buy my own house a couple years ago at the age of 27.
Northeast Ohio has probably the BEST value/dollar in the home market in the country. My mortgage is $545.00. 1400 sq. ft. ranch, full basement (partially finished), 3 bed, 1.5 bath, 2 car attached garage. Nice, quiet neighborhood, and the house is in good condition (3 year old driveway, newer vinyl siding, HVAC in good condition, clean).
I would never move from here no matter how much of a raise I could get, simply because I could never get the size of yard I have (85 X 185 plot) in California or NY, even IF I could afford the house.

That guy is a good writer, but he seems to be more concerned with his own flashy, hip style (seriously;mentioning Paris Hilton, AND Cher?) than actually printing anything factual.
Dismiss him for what he is, a rabble rouser in the Michael Moore mold.

If anyone doubts that a V8 can get good gas mileage:
"...What isn't so visible is that the Z06 Corvette is actually two cars in one. Conjoined with the brutish power provided in the 505 horsepower sports car is a miserly economical car. I wouldn't believe it either myself except I've actually witnessed this firsthand.
Is this some weird science, or Mother Nature playing some game? The answer lies in the shared mechanicals of the conjoined twin. As a byproduct of the transmission allowing for a 198 mph top speed is a car that can turn less than 1,500 rpm while cruising at 70 mph. I can't certify personally that the Vette will close in on 200 miles per hour, but I testify achieving an outstanding 29 mpg on the 5 and 55 freeways from Burbank to Newport Beach. That's better than ten percent above the posted mileage rating!
No truer words were spoken than "your mileage may vary." Unbelievable numbers are within the realm of possibility given the right circumstances. The figure quoted in my fifty-mile trip is the result of no variation in traffic flow (11:00 pm on a Sunday night) and moderate air temperatures. On the flip side of the coin, I only managed a meager mid teens driving up the 405 earlier in the day - no doubt due to stop-and-go traffic during the heat of mid-day."

No matter what the various trade magazine writers have to say about the 5th gen Camaro and V8 muscle cars in general, I will be in line to buy a fully optioned top of the line V8 convertible as soon as they come out. I'm part of that group that could care less what the gas mileage is as long as I'm having fun driving it. And a 5th gen will definitely be joining the other 2nd gen, 3 3rd gens, and the 4th gen in the garage.
But my favorite will probably always be my IROC vert....

Yep - I saw a 2 page print ad for the Z06 which describes it as a 505 horsepower economy car - the ad copy talks in detail about what goes in to making horsepower and 26 mpg.

Why do people even read these articles anymore? WTF? Journalism is a sleazy business, full of low life scumbags pushing thier stupid agendas......one of which happens to be the failure of GM, but hey look on the bright side, I hear newspaper is really great for cleaning your windows with, and it's cheaper than paper towles, so.........it's all good!!!! It is working its way online too, I did see something on aol the other day about how some critics said the movie sucked and was basically a waste of $$$$......It's just more of the same BS IMO!!!
