Anyone planning extreme mods for their camaro?
 

The SEMA cars really got me to start thinking about what people may do with the car after they get it. So I was just wondering if anyone on this board was planning on mods to their car as soon as they get it. Something on the lines like the SEMA cars.

So, if you're going to mod your car, what do you have planned for it?

Nothing incredibly extreme on this end. AFTER I get the money back in the bank after the downpayment I'm probably looking at long tubes, cam, tune, and exhaust. That'll probably be about a year and a half down the road, but I'll most likely start with intake and short throw right away. I shouldn't have any problems getting north of 500 HP based on some of the numbers I've seen from the Vette guys.

what about the warrenty?

That's the price. Some people won't care, some will wait until it runs out. I may end up waiting...don't know yet.

I would not spend that kind of money on a car and then have to make major repairs etc. too it........ Main reason is b/c I learned not to do it again back in 1997 :lol: I think I overnighted axles and posi's about 6 times...good thing I worked at the dealer :D

I am not worried about it myself. I am being smart about it.

if i had the resources, i'd definitely t-top it, maintaining the reverse mohawk.
realistically, i'd say camming that LS3 is a must, the gains are unreal. i'll end up waiting till warranty is up. you dont want some electrical gremlin or other serious issue to pop up 6 months or a year into ownership and sit there, facepalming your way to a healthy non-warrantied repair/update.

My 5th gen will have some sort of FI. Preferably an APS style turbo system, but a centri isnt out of the question. Warranty isnt a big deal, its still and LS motor, so its not like theres a shortage of them.

I must be the exception and not the rule then because I actually know what I am doing. I have been behind the 8-ball enough times with car projects in the past to know how not to do it. :cool:

Hard work and a steady day job has to cover the hobbies so far. :)

im planning on adding a superchager, either pro charger or votrech. depends who has the first one out. also plan on doing suspension work to lower the car about 1.5-2 inches. also sway bars and rear suspension to tighten everything up. other than that the exterior mods are minimal, wheels tires. also plan on putting long tube headers and catback borla exhaust on. im hoping to be in the 550+ hp range when all is said and done.

I suspect that, if I ever get a 5th gen (I hope to afford one some day, but it's not a sure thing), it will serve as a license to do extreme mods to my 4th gen. I'd probably do intake/exhaust on the 5th gen, but not much more than that.
