Door Sill Clear Round Dots?

Door Sill Clear Round Dots?
Does any one else have clear round 1.5'' circular dots at the corner of the door sill where it meets the door pillar below the latch? Are they for protection or should they have been removed at prep time? Dirt has gotten into them and they look like crap.Can I remove them?The car is a 2011 2lt r/s

After further review it's rounded at the bottom and notched at the top.

Oh yeah...I think I remember seeing them. I think it could be a little padding to avoid a scratch right there during the assembly process. Either that or the engineers found that due to the aerodynamics of the car, dirt would hit there often and wear the paint thin...but I am grabbing at straws on that one.

they may be there to keep from something hitting it and chipping the paint? my dad has them on his vette and hes kept them on their for 4 years now. its under the door, why not just let it be?

They actually stick out from under the door and can be seen with the door shut.The rounded edge is on the outside painted surface.They edges are filling with dirt,I don't think ours were put on very well.They are wrinkles and the edges are lifting.The material looks like that 3m protection film so I really think the're supposed to be there.I think it time for a trip to the dealer to have them replaced and put on properly.

My wife took her car to the dealer today.Yes they are supposed to be there(but no one knows exactly why).The dealer has ordered out a new set and will have their body shop replace them. Jason,I love this site thanks for your help.
