GAME TYPE SELECTION ====================================================== At the introduction screen, you will see the following options: > START - Start a new game > LOAD - Load a saved game > VS. MODE - Allows two people to simultaneously compete against each other using saved game files > MANUAL - View the game manual (OUTDATED IN-GAME, THIS DOCUMENT IS THE MOST RECENT) > CREDITS - View the game credits ====================================================== 2. STARTING A NEW GAME ====================================================== After selecting START at the opening screen, you must choose your car on the car selection screen. Use the arrow buttons to select your car. Some cars will leave you with a small amount of money to apply to modifications later in the game, but also have less starting horsepower than others. The car you choose will be the car you will continue with until you start a new game. Once you have chosen a car, click START. This will take you to the MAIN screen. ====================================================== 3. MAIN SCREEN ====================================================== While in the main screen, you can view your car in the upper left hand corner. Use the arrow buttons under it to change rotation speed/direction and use the pause button to stop the rotation. In the upper right hand corner of the main screen is your current saved game name (see "SAVING/LOADING A GAME" below), the list of your current modifications, the SAVE game button (see "SAVING/LOADING A GAME" below) and your current money amount. In the middle of the main screen you can view your horsepower level, N20 horsepower level and your game records. Click "OPTIONS" in the lower right corner to view and change sound and keyboard control settings. Click INFO to go back to your car's power and records display. Along the lower left of the main screen is a list of modifications to choose from to modify your car. ====================================================== 4. MODIFYING YOUR CAR ====================================================== You can shop for performance upgrades by clicking the categories that are listed along the lower left side of the main screen. After selecting one category, you will be presented with that category options and a sub-category with more options. Click on the parts you want to add to your car based on your current modifications in the modification list and the amount of money you have. Once you have made the desired modifications to your car, click "OPTIONS" or "INFO" to go back, or click "GO RACE" which will take you to the track selection screen. ====================================================== 5. SELECTING A RACE ====================================================== There are four tracks with three levels each, plus the Street Race selection. Click a track name to the left of the track preview screen and then select your desired participation level under the track preview screen. The tracks are as follows: > Country Crossroads (beginner) - A good place to get started, there is no fee for racing in the entry level. > Motor City Dragway (easy) - They don't call Detroit the Motor City for nothing, but they don't call it Murder City for nothing, either. This track is a rough place to hang out at, but is great for some down and dirty racing to earn you mod money. Watch your back and your wallet. > Coastal Shores (medium) - A friendlier place than the Motor City Dragway with great competition and great scenery. > Ridgeview Raceway (hard) - Where the big boys play, make sure you have a lot of mods or you will get laughed right out of the track. Take on the fastest cars and win the big bucks. > Street Race - Place your bets, take your chances. Make it to the end first and win more mod money. Get blown away, lose your bet and head home with an empty pocket. ====================================================== 6. GENERAL GAME PLAY ====================================================== After selecting a race, you will find your car at the staging lanes or stop light. General racing rules apply, don't leave too early or you will get a red light. Don't leave too late or your doors will get blown off. Once you see the green light, it's on! Use the keyboard to accelerate, brake, shift and activate N20 (if you purchased N2O). (See "MAIN SCREEN" for information on how to change the keyboard layout). Game play hints: > As always, a good burnout is necessary for a good launch. > Be careful of the bosses that randomly appear at each track, they are different from other cars in the game and they play to win. > Be sure to save your game often. ====================================================== 7. SAVING/LOADING A GAME ====================================================== While in the main screen, you can save your current car setup and winnings. All saved games will be in the directory to which you installed F-Body Drag. The default installation directory is /Program Files/CamaroZ28.Com F-Body Drag/. The saved file will be named NO NAME.txt by default, but you can rename this at the top right corner of the main screen by highlighting it and typing in the desired name and then clicking the SAVE button. Backup and rename files frequently as it will be overwritten each time you save. You will have the option to load saved games at the opening screen each time you start F-Body Drag. ====================================================== 8. EXITING THE GAME ====================================================== You may instantly exit F-Body Drag at any time by pressing the ESC key. Handy for when the boss walks by but this does not save your progress. ====================================================== 9.
