Re: corvette tires on my camaro

I'm running a 12 bolt in my 94 T/A and when did the set up I had the rear end narrowed 3''.
1 1/2'' at the ends. Now i want to go from drag racer back to street king. Being narrowed I can add 1 1/2 spacers to come out to original length. the axels are moser and have 3' long studs. But being 600 hp and wanting to slam the streets again with all handling features restored are the spacers going to lead to a prone area of shooting the rear wheels right off the car? That is a fear I'm concerned of. The place that built the rear end won't retube the housing and I do not have cash to buy new one so I need to use what i have. Probably looking at custom rims to be built for rear.$$$$ either way i guess.

Re: Wheels/spacers for narrowed 4th Gen rear

You wouldn't use a "spacer" on your 3" studs. You would install shorter high strength studs, then use a billet adapter that bolts to those studs, and has a new set of studs to bolt the wheels to. Whether they will stand up to the shearing forces of a 600HP application is not clear. They are used quite a lot on 4-wheel drive off-road applications, so they are fairly rugged. Used to be a source that I would trust (Skulte Designs), but he has stopped making them. Buying the stuff they sell on ebay is a huge crap shoot.

The alternative is to buy wheels with the 3rd Gen offset (16mm on an 8.0" wide wheel) rather than the 4th Gen offset (55mm on an 8.0" wide wheel).
