what size tire?

what size tire?
Trying to find a good size tire to put on my 18x8.5 rims...I put 225/60 on and they rub a little bit...I don't wanna lose to much rubber so I still have the protection to my rims from any unavoidable bump in the road

Re: what size tire?
Big problem is the excessive diameter of the tire. A 225/60-18 is a 28.6" tire. Stock tires are 25.7 or 26.1" diameter. A 255/40-18 at 26.1" would make more sense. If that size rubs anywhere, front or rear fenders, the problem is the offset of the wheels.
What is the offset of your wheels?
Many of us run 275's on all 4 corners, on 9.5" wide wheels, with no rubbing. The key is running the correct diameter tire on the correct offset wheels.

Re: what size tire?
Front wheels are 17x9.5 56mm offset, with 275/40-17's. Rear wheels are 17x11.0 50mm offset, with 315/35-17's. Took some hammering on the rear inner fenders.
Equivalent in an 18" wheel would be 275/35-18. But an 8.5" wheel is too narrow for a 275. That's why I recommended the 255/40-18. That's about as wide as you can go. Most manufacturers do not recommend using a 225/60-18 on an 8.5" wide wheel. The tire is too narrow, and provides minimal protection of the rim.
