Tire size help

I got a set of welds rts forged wheels 15x10s. I was planning on putting Hoosier 28x10x15. I was wondering if I can fit a bigger tire like a 10.5 or 11. Or a taller one like a 29 without having to worry about rubbing the well. I Don't know much about tires but I want it to look good know what I mean. Thanks

Re: Tire size help

First, the wheels need a 7.5" backspace to keep the tire under the fender.

I ran a Hoosier QTP 28x11.5-15. My rear wheel wells had already been hammered for 315's so there was no problem with the inside fender liners. Problem was that above 120MPH trap speeds the 28" tire grew enough that the tread started to rub on the sheet metal at the bottom/front of the wheel opening (the actual fender/quarter panel sheet metal). I moved the rear axle back about 1/4" using adjustable LCA's. The QTP was a 28.0" tire and I was running it tubeless.

When I went to a set of M/T ET Drag 28x10.5-15W (the "W" makes it wider than an 11.5) measured at 28.1" I had major problems. The tire wouldn't even go on the axle until I cut about 1/2" off the leading edge of the rubber bumper cover. Then we took it up to about 135 on the chassis dyno, and the tread hit the sheet metal point that is immediately behind the rubber bumper cover. In the end, I took about 1" off the bumper cover, and hammered down the sheet metal point. I run the ET Drag with tubes, so the added weight may have increased the growth at high speed - don't really know.
