Tire Size
Hey Guys
pretty new to this community, I have a 2000 chevy camaro z28 6speed, I bought the car with the tire size 245/50/16 on the rear and front, and was wondering is it bad to have the rear 245/50/16 and the front 235/50/16, slight difference, has a stagger look not bad, but would it affect the car in any way?and I also checked on the driver side door and it shows 245/50/16 for the rear and the front. My question is, would it affect the car's performance?

Re: Tire Size
A 235/50/16 may change the steering because the tire is not as wide the steering wheel my be easier to turn . your only looking at about a 10mm so you might not even notice the difference
I'm running 275/45 /17 front & back no issues
welcome to camaro Z28 .com

Re: Tire Size
Thanks guys, and I will be getting 245/50/16 tires back within a couple of weeks, my old tires were worn out so it was kind of an emergency, but good to know, and the car is driving smooth but I will definately be going stock on the tires. What other size would be recommended? I mean like a wider tire Because I see camaros with widen sized tires that look nice, thats kind of what I am looking for.

Re: Tire Size
There's really nothing much available in 16" sizes. There's a 255/50-16, but they are getting hard to find. Anything wider is an outdated tire like a BFG Radial T/A, the only 16" size has too large a diameter (27.6").
You need to move up to 17" wheels as a minimum. The popular setup replicates the stock sizes on the SS and WS6 coupes - 275/40-17 on a 17 x 9.0" (or 17 x 9.5") wheel. Or run those in the front and 315/35-17 on a 17 x 11.0" wheel in the back. 18" wheels also offer a selcetion of wider tires of the correct diameter.

Re: Tire Size
Just an FYI, here's what tire sizes originally came on 4th Gen. F-Bodies:
215/60/16 = Base tire on V6 F-Body (16x7.5 steel rim)
235/55/16 = Upgraded tire size on the V6 and base tire size on Z28 (16x8 rim)
245/50/16 = Upgraded tire size on Z28 and SS convertibles (16x8 rim)
275/40/17 = Upgraded rim and tire size on SS/WS6 models (17x9 rim)
