Help me pick best ZR1 rim combination
So i read thru the ZR1 wheel sticky, and what I found out is that everyone seems to have 17x9.5" and 17x11" with 275/40/17 & 315/35/17.
Here's what I wanna find out, bear with me it's a few things:
If I get 17x10 rear 17x9 front, what tires can I fit? Ultimately I want 275s up front and 305's in the back. Not sure what section i need (30, 35, 40, 45, etc)
also, on the same set up, if i get 17's front and 18's back, what exact size tire is the back supposed to be for a 305 section tire?
Lastly, what's my best bet when it comes to buying wheels/tires? what site can I find it the easiest and cheapest based on everyone's experience here?
Ideally I'd like the set up with a deep dish look in the back, but I'm open either way.
thanks.

Re: Help me pick best ZR1 rim combination
I think the reason everyone uses the tire/wheel combinations cited in the sticky is because those are the sizes available. If you have found any of the tire or wheel sizes you are asking about, other than the 275/40-17, please post links so others can consider them in the future.
A 275/40-17 will fit correctly on a 17 x 9.0" wheel. That's the stock tire/wheel combination on the WS6 and SS coupes. The SS wheels were very similar to the ZR1 wheels, and are available in 17 x 9.0". Not sure I've seen other ZR1 replicas in 17 x 9.0" size. What benefits do you feel you will gain from using a 1/2" narrower wheel?
To my knowledge, there is no 305 width tire available in 17" sizes in street tires. There might be some competition tires. Or maybe I just haven't seen them. Tire Rack doesn't have them. If there is a 305/35-17 it would be about a 1/4" smaller in diameter than stock, and a 305/40-17 would be almost 1" larger than stock.
With 18" wheels in the back, you would use a 305/35-18 and it would be a bit larger than stock diameter. A 305/30-18 would be 1/2" too small in diameter.

Re: Help me pick best ZR1 rim combination
OE Wheels has a number of 9"/11" Combination sets (Most are 17"/18" combinations, but there are also some complete 17").
I would pick one of the their combos and then start to review the appropriate tire sizing to match factory specs for the width you are hoping for. Also pay attention to the fact that folks have to hammer the rear area to accommodate wider tires, so be prepared for that as needed.

Yes. The Camaro SS and Pontiac WS6 coupe wheels are 17 x 9.0" 50mm offset. The Corvette Grand Sport fronts are 17 x 9.5" 56mm offset. The ZR1 front wheels are 17 x 9.5 ~37.5mm offset.
