Detroit ZR1 50mm offset wheels ordered...
Finally bit the bullet and bought some rims for my car. They are nothing outstanding but, between the cost of tasty wheels and my inability to find any that looked as nice as those on Brians Formula;
So I went with these ZR1 replicas. (306-841-7961C)
I also ordered some new Nitto 555R 275x40x17's outback. This paycheck I got the rears, next paycheck will get the fronts.

So,.. If you could change the title to "50mm", that would be great. Thanks!

I woiuldn't put 275/40's on the 17x11" wheels. Technically they "fit" but they are going to look "stretched". Everyone puts 315/35's on those wheels.
There is a complete writeup on all this in the "Wheels and Tires" sticky at the top of the forum topic listing. Note that some 4th Gens do need fender and jounce bumper work even with the 50mm wheels.
My 315 on the left, on a 17x11 wheel - my old 275 in a 17x9.5" wheel.

oh boy...
Looking at those two side by side.... dang it. I've always loved the look of the 315's under an fbody but didn't want to do the trim/fitment things attendant with that width. And it looks like the 275's will be overwhelmed by the 11" width.
Sigh.. They'll be here today sometime so I'll have to decide what to do. Thanks so much for the heads up.

Re: Detroit ZR1 50mm offset wheels ordered...
Part of the problem with the 17x11 wheels is that when you jack the car, the edge of the rim catches on the projecting jounce bumper bracket. That will not disappear because you use a narrower tire. You will probably eliminate the inner fender hammering. You will still need to check the fender lip, because as the body squats on launch the lip comes down on the sidewall of the tire. Your sidewall will be tilting in more than the 315, which is basically vertical, so it might not be a problem. Even with my 315's the lip only became a problem when the body torqued sideways on very hard shifts.
There is a 285/40-17 which would make a small difference.

Geez Nittos run small. You can see the bead of the wheel in the above shot. At first I thought that it was a 275 mounted on the 11" wheel.
My car is lowered with their 17x11s in the back and didn't require hammering, clearancing, or anything to make fit.

I believe it is a 275 mounted on a 17x11 wheel. See post #4.

Re: Detroit ZR1 50mm offset wheels ordered...
Just wanted to update. Last weekend, I got under the car to swap out the lower control arms. I've had BMR LCA and Panhard for quite awhile but the roads up in this area being crap, I took out the BMR LCA and put stockers back in a few years ago so my eyes would stay in their sockets going over the cracks in the roads.
They've fixed the roads for the most part and so I put them back in. As I jacked up the car by the differential, put the jack stands on the plate for the front of the LCA mounts and lowered the differential, I noticed what Injuneer had said. Even with 50mm offsets, the inner lip of the rim 'just' does catch on the edge of the bumpstop mount and suspends the rim there. Now mind you, my differential is a custom Ford 8.8 hybrid (GM 10 bolt legs on a Ford 8.8 gear housing) so my width may not be perfectly stock.

Re: Detroit ZR1 50mm offset wheels ordered...
Got paid today so I ordered the front 17"x9.5" ZR1 fronts and 275/40/17 Kumho 7363 - Kumho Ecsta ASX tires. While I'm waiting for those, I just finished installing my new MOOG ball joints and Energy Suspension bushings in the A-Arms.
I'd stripped a spare set of A-arms down to bare metal, painted them with POR-15 and then put in the ball joints/bushings. They look great! I debated on whether to install the refreshed A-arms in with the stock K-member but thought I might as well install the BMR Tubular K-Member I bought back last year while it's all disassembled. The weather here sucks and has been raining flooding for the past several days. I go out and do a little bit here and there till I'm too soaked, then come back in the house for awhile. Wish I still had my garage....
