I also spend several hours underneath this thing covering every piece of rust that I could find with the Wurth Rust Conveter, which is awesome by the way...

It's looking pretty good now. Just need to get it in the body shop for paint...

You can use any rust converter, most jobbers sell it now. The Wurth stuff is good, but expensive. www.wurthusa.com will find you a rep that sell it.

I put it on everything underneath the car, sway bars, swing arms, rad cradle, floor panels, rear axle, literally anywhere there is rust, got covered in this stuff.

You can't find one exposed piece of rust on the bottom of my car right now. I even did the driveshaft, that was a pain in the A$$!

I've never seen or used the caliper covers. For the amount of time it takes to clean them up , prime them and paint them, it wouldn't bother with covers.

How did you paint your calipers. I've been wanting to do mine just don't know how to go about it. Thanks.

I cleaned any loose dirt/rust from them, then hit them with the rust converter. Once that cured. I masked off the hub assembly and wheel well area and hit the caliper (pads removed) with some primer (2-3 coats), wait for that to cure, then hit it with 3-4 coats of gloss black. I just used the valspar rattlecan rust paint and a good self-etching primer.

Keep in mind that the rattle can paint will dry in a few hours, but it takes weeks to cure completely. The paint will still be very soft for several days after painting.

Unfortunately for us here, the cold, crappy weather has set in and I now have time to let things completely cure before putting them to use.

I did the wheels in gloss black this weekend....I didn't like the satin black look they had. They are all painted and sitting waiting for the next 4 weeks to cure completely before they go back on....

the calipers are aluminum, so i dont know if rust converter is the most effective. rustoleum makes brake caliper cleaner. havent used it myself, but it looks like it should do a good job.
