Seen some nice 20s id like to put on my 98 Camaro and was wondering if 245/50R20s would fit?

Re: 98 camaro

dubs on a Camaro?????

A 245/50-20 is a 29.6" diameter tire. Stock tire on a Z28 is either 25.7" diameter or 26.1". So no, they won't fit. Largest practical diameter is 28.0", and that means the car will be slowed down significantly unless you opt for a higher numerical rear axle ratio, and the "already too tall" appearance of the car will start looking like a jacked up pickup. Then you will need the PCM reprogrammed to keep the speedometer/odometer accurate.

The 20" tire equivalent to the stock tire would be a 245/30-20. Narrow sidewall is going to produce a harsh ride and expose the wheel to pothole damage. Anything over 18" isn't likely to play well with the solid rear axle.

Re: 98 camaro

...agreed...IMO, 18's are the largest you should go on a 4th Gen. F-Body IF you want to keep your ride/handling and performance. I tried 19's at one point with a 275/30/19 tire. The ride was VERY harsh and since there wasn't much a of sidewall, my traction was horrible too. I'd spin the tires regularly when doing any kind of quick acceleration. I went down to a set of 18's with 275/35/18's and things are MUCH better...

Over the years, I've had the stock 16's w/245/50/16's, 17's w/275/40/17 (2 different rim styles: Firehawk & C5 Z06), 18's w/275/35/18 (2 different rim styles; C5 Z06 & C6), and 19's w/275/30/19's (OEM 19x10 C6 rims). IMO, the 18's are the best compromise between looks and performance, but the car performed the best on the street with the 17's IMO.
