Do you currently have stock wheels? I thought the stock wheels were 16 x 8" (not 9"). So you would have to use a 16" slick if that's the case.
Whether you use 26x11.5-15 or 26x11.5-16 ET Streets, the recommended wheel width is 9", and M/T measures the tires on 10" wheels.
If you mean ET Street Drag Radials, rather the actual ET Streets, the 8" wheel width is OK.
As far as fitting in the wheel wells, I'll let a 3rd Gen owner address that.

I have 275/60/15 on the back of my 88 which are two inches taller and have 11" section width, and they fit OK. That's on weld 15x8 wheels with 4.5 inch backspace. Any less backspacing and they will hit the lip. You'll really need to check to see how much backspace you have first.
