While I've never run with MVP, I have run numerous High Performance Driver's Education (HPDE) events with a 1/2 dozen or so groups who promotte these events.
And SA2000 or better helmet, long pants, natural blend clothing and a car that can pass a state mandated safety inspection for use on public roads is all that is required, with the exception of convertibles. Verts need a roll bar with a few excptions.
And a "few laps" won't cut it. Once you get a taste, you will be a track junkie.
I started during an open house at Motorsports Ranch in Cresson when it first opened. 5 years later, I'm building a dedicated track car. And I've been racing it since 2005.
And it's not about being on track. The pits are a LOT different than I found at my local test-n-tune drag strip. Lots of visitors, meeting a lot of new people, learning about other platforms, performance discussions ... its an amazing group.
And no telling who you will meet or see.
I was at Texas Motorspeedway in a DE event on the infield road course 5 or 6 years ago. Here come three C5 ZO6s easing up to the grid. Dick Guldstrand is in the first car, John Heinricy in the second and Ron Fellows in the third.
Very cool indeed.
