What would cause a turn signal bulb to keep blowing up?
The rear driver side turn signal will work the first time a turn on the blinker. When I turn it off and then try to signal again, the bulb burns out. I've gone to 3 bulbs within 2 minutes. Why will it work the first time and then burn out? Is the harness putting too much that the bulb cant handle it? what can I check to fix this? Any info will be great. Thanks.

Is it frying the bulb filiment or just not working? If its smoking the filiment it might be the wrong or 'sub-standard' bulb. If it's just not working, check the wires at the bulb socket, move and wiggle them around while the blinker is on, it could be a bad connection at or in the socket.
Hope this helps..

It is frying the filament inside the bulb. It works the first time I turn on the signal. I can leave the signal on and the bulb will work fine. Next time I signal again the filament will burn.

That is a 3057/3157 bulb, right?
I was having the same trouble when I would install them in my front turn signals. Seems they are a bit sensitive...if you over turn them, they will blink once and crap out.
Try to be gentle with it...leave it out of the rear signal, try it out...try it out again...then again. If it survives three times, it should be OK. Go ahead and put it in the signal and put it all back in place.

Mine might have been different then your problem so I'll just tell ya what happened to me.
I was burning through those bulbs like crazy last year, My car has DRL's (98) so I went back to chevy and bought one of their bulbs and I havent had a problem since
I dont know what is different, but try getting a bulb from Chevy.
