Made up a new part for my car yesterday:

8.5% water pump underdrive pulley, 0.75lbs lighter than the stock one too. Should net 2-3rwhp and a slight bump in mpg.

Re: New part

Had more time than I expected today, so I went ahead and made an alternator pulley as well.

It is 128 grams lighter than stock.

When it is all added up:
Water pump = 340g
Smooth idler = 60g
Ribber idler = 175g

For a total of 703g or 1.55lbs of rotating mass reduced.

Re: New part

Nice! How much time did this take, and what did the materials cost? What did you use to make them?

It took two to three hours to run off a small batch of each pulley. The material was just some leftover 6061 I had from other parts.

Used one of these for the turing:

And one of these for the milling:

As for how they work, after a whole weekend of running flat out on the Daytona 24 hours course, the highest coolant tempo I saw was 205F.
