How many miles on your V6?

1996 camaro M5
168,000 miles, first car, i loved it. (parents buy your child a slow performance car before a V8) It was still within the factory compression specs and the only thing i had to replace was the water pump and a clutch. I was 16-19 owning that car... needless to say I PUNISHED IT FOR BEING SLOW! but it loved my abuse and i kept giving it! It was a very fun car to learn on. sold it at 168,000 to some dude without a green card or citizenship for $1500. i'd like to see how it holds up under his ownership.

1995 3.4
85k
lots of problems when i bought it...broken water pump, broken windshield fluid pump, missing intake manifold gasket, replaced all 4 tires, leaking power steering pump, transmission fluid leak, needed new lower control arm bushing, bad EGR valve
however, it feels good to take a ****ed up car like this one and make it run nicely

I am preparing to replace the same O-ring that this guy had to replace. I will be doing it this summer. This will be the biggest job I've ever done on my car so I am a little nervous, lol.
Anyhow, I have a 95 3.4 A4 with 116,000 and it still runs fine (minus that annoying oil leak).

Re: How many miles on your V6?
My: 1998 camaro
Engine: 3.8
Mileage: 118k
Transmission: M5
Lets see where to begin on the problems. They all just started within the past 3k miles. At 115k the transmission locked up, had that replaced. At 117k the starter went out. Now at 118k there is a rod knocking and loss of oil pressure. Currently looking for a used 3.8.
I don't think any of these problems would of happenend besides the starter if i was treating it right. Acted stupid in the car and it is finally starting to catch up. But i can pick up a used 3.8 at junk yards around here for about $300-$500 with 50-65k miles on them.

I've only been working on cars for a few months now, and it didn't take me 2 hours even.
Just take your time and do it right the first time.
Update on the mileage... 185,000

Re: How many miles on your V6?
88,000 miles.
Have been having a few problems of late - broken strut mount, needed new struts, new brakes, new starter, new water pump and the latest has been the misfire mess. So... she's been put out to pasture and passed along to the 16 year old who will be driving alot less than I do. Anyone know how to put training wheels on her?
This is a great resource for info! Since he is going to have to learn to fix and maintain it, I'm sure we will be on here quite a bit. His first job is to replace the plugs and wires (his dad, his friend, and his friend's dad have all offered to help) since he doesn't have the $600 the shop wants to fix it. Wish them all luck! I printed out the great misfire mystery for them so at least they'll have a heads up.
As for me, I have moved on to one of those foreign cars we won't mention, but it's cute, small, gets great gas mileage, and with all the driving I do makes more sense. I'm sure I will be borrowing back "my baby" on weekends when I have the chance!

1996 3.8 Camaro
Manual tranny
120,000 miles
I bought this with 110,000 on it. The guy before me replaced a water pump recenty and the clutch at 92,000 miles. He beat it I can tell... He had 4 1 or 2 year old tires with a lot of tread still showing except for one of the rear tires... very bald. I have replaced the fuel injectors (SES light) and oil sender. No major problems It burns like 1 quart evry 5000 miles but I dont consider that major since I do an oil change before I have to replace the quart.
1985 2.8 Firebird
Manual tranny
151,000 miles
No major problems at all with this engine, clutch at 130,000 miles. New tranny at 151,000. I beat on this one. I pulled the motor at 151,000 to put a V-8 (good time to since tranny went out) into it and it ran till 187,000 till someone hit me from behind and totaled it. When I pulled the motor I examined it and have virtually no wear. Mobil 1 its whole life changed every 5000 miles
1989 2.8 Firebird
Auto tranny
137,000 miles
No problems what so ever. Sold it at this milage to move to California. Its body was rotting from all the salt on the roads... Hole in rear wheel well and by left drivers foot in floor board. Only ever replaced a pick up coil, starter and altanator, so far as I know its still running.

98 rally red A4
well i bought the car with 69,000 miles on it from a dealership. Had a 60 day warranty on the car and about on the 54th day i spun a crank bearing and scored the **** out of my motor making it knock like it was gonna blow up. Dealership took it back and had all brand new internals and everything done to the motor...have 87,000 miles on it right now and nothing else went wrong besides a bad starter
