Bad Cylinder 3.8L

My bad luck never fails. Cylinder 3 won't fire. Changed plug, wire, not injector (but I know that isn't the problem). What's the best route to get it fixed? Or should I junk the car, buy new motor? I would love a response to this thread.

Re: Bad Cylinder 3.8L

If it isn't firing and you're absolutly sure you have spark, fuel and air going in then I'd do a compression check. Messed up valve or worn rings could be leaving you with no compression to work with. If you have bad compression then you're looking at a rebuild or replacement. If not check spark (wires, plugs, coils/distributor) and fuel (swap injectors, blow out fuel rail etc) again.

Re: Bad Cylinder 3.8L

Try a new coil pack for that cylinder. Then see what happens. If that doesn't fix the issue, then the valve needs to be checked by doing the compression leak down.
