96 Camaro RS - Replace Oil Pan Gasket Questions

I am a somewhat novice with auto repairs but am self learning. I need to replace the oil pan gasket on my 3.8 V6 and think the easiest way would be to jack up the engine, after disconnecting the engine mounts. My question is where do I locate the jack under the engine to support the weight of it and not have it interfere with the oil pan removal?

Thank you.

Re: 96 Camaro RS - Replace Oil Pan Gasket Questions

Would love to but I don't have an engine hoist. Would prefer not spending $200 for a hoist and the parts necessary to use only once.

Thanks.

Re: 96 Camaro RS - Replace Oil Pan Gasket Questions

Thanks for the suggestion. Found a reasonably priced rental hours that charges $25 for 8 hours or $35 for 24 hours. Will go that route.

Now, where do you mount the hoist to the engine? I have seen slings that they sell at Harbor Freight for for $9.99. Can they be used or is it best to bolt to the engine when lifting? If I need to bolt to the engine, do you know the specifics of the bolts needed as I would like to buy them prior to renting the hoist.

Thanks again.
