3400 overheating
I know its not a camaro.. but i have an alero with the 3400.
bought it cheap because it needed an intake gasket. got it fixed but it keeps overheating. I've changed the water pump and thermostat but it still keeps getting hot.
Im thinkin about flushing it and changing the thermostat again. Any other ideas? I've never had a motor that wont keep itself cool.

Re: 3400 overheating
Did you bleed the system by opening the bleeder screws while it was running making sure the air was burped out of the system? Or it could be a head gasket issue, not uncommon for them to go on the 3400 too and if it is a head gasket issue get the heads checked for cracks while they are off-also have heard of a cracked head but not as often. Just be sure if you end up going this far that you don't put it back together and still have a problem because you don't get them checked and end up doing it AGAIN. Make sure the parts are in good order when you do a major teardown for reassembly so you don't kick yourself for skipping something because they look good by eyesight. If you actually just did the intake set and you used the good Felpro gaskets they should still be fresh enough to use again, just clean them up good and they'll be fine so all you'd need to get is a set of head gaskets and head bolts.
